MULTIPLE DMV DUI SUSPENSIONS
If you have received a prior DMV suspension for DUI or suffered a prior DUI conviction within the last ten years then your license will be suspended for two years. After one year you may request a restricted driver’s license that will allow you to drive to and from alcohol school and work so long as you have done the following:
- Waited one year of the suspension period.
- Enrolled in and completed 12 months of the 18 month alcohol school program. Alcohol school will electronically send proof of enrollment to DMV. The phone number for the Oxnard Alcohol school is 981-9210, they can direct you to a closer school if needed.
- Contacted your insurance company and asked them to send a SR-22 to DMV. Make sure they do it right then.
- Go to DMV and pay $140 re-instatement fee. Once they verify that you have done the above you will receive a restricted drivers license for the remaining period of your suspension.
NOTE: You must complete 12 months of the 18 month alcohol school program AND wait one year of the suspension before you are eligible for your restricted license.
